{COLLABORATION} Outdoor Entertaining

We had a lot of fun working on this collaboration with Lulu Hypermarket, Life on the Wedge and Apple Snaps. Our aim was to show that entertaining at home doesn't have to be stressful and can actually be pretty easy during the cooler months of the year. Here we are going to focus on the style of the event so if your looking for more details on the food elements of this outdoor soiree then pop over to Life on the Wedge

When planning to entertain at home you need to focus on keeping it simple! Following a few simple strategies and you really can keep things from getting too complex. First you need to step away from Pinterest and turn towards your cupboards. There is no point finding fab ideas on Pinterest if they are going to be hard or expensive to execute. Look in your cupboards at what you already have and work from there. Pull out some of your favourite plates and platters and see how you can make them work together to bring a cohesiveness to your party.

A white table cloth is always a good starting point as it goes with anything. If you don't have white table cloth you can always use a white sheet - they are just about always cheaper than buying a table cloth and by the time the table is all laid your guests won't be able to tell the difference.

When deciding on your menu go for something you can manage easily. Trying out new or adventurous recipes when you are having guests over is never a good idea. For this outdoor party we have used a selection of ready made food items from Lulu - simple - it becomes less about cooking and more about presenting and serving the food.

This meal was broken down into 3 parts - (1) drinks & snacks arranged on a separate table, (2) the main meal served family style, and (3) finally a small desert buffet set up to the side of the main table. This is a simple 1, 2, 3 approach to doing things as you can prepare it all in advance and enjoy the time with your friends rather than having to spend time in the kitchen checking on food.

This colourful desert bar is a perfect example of keeping it simple. It is a small selection of fruit and sweet nuts along with a little ice cream. You can either keep it to the side or if you prefer then clear the main table off and place it in the center so your guests don't have to get out of their seats.

One thing people often forget is lighting. Unfortunately most houses in Doha do not have good outdoor lighting but luckily there are lots of other options these days to add additional lights without having to rewire your house! We are rather fond of these festoon lights but you can also use electric candles on the tables or glass lanterns. Whatever you chose just make sure you get the lighting right - too much and it just too bright and you lose the ambiance and not enough you can't see what you are eating.

Now go forth and entertain and remember not to sweat the small stuff. Start with items your already have, utilize ready made or prepared foods, and focus on simple but effective lighting ideas. Now that Doha temps have dropped below 20 you might even want a blanket or two outside!

{PARTY TIME} Winter Wonderland!

This was such a fun theme to work on! It was more of a winter party than a Christmas party but there were a few festive elements thrown in. The colour scheme was sparkly gold, silver and white and the party was jam packed full of fun activities.

The layers of gold, silver and white worked really well in creating a sparkly, wintery feel. We scattered around lots of different styles of glittery gold, silver and white trees to add to the sparkly winter feel. Our Baby It's Cold Outside light box was a fun whimsical addition to the food table. The cute little present boxes sprinkled around the food table were a wee festive touch.

On arrival the gingerbread houses were all ready for the children to start decorating. We recommend if you are going to make the houses yourself that you get a gingerbread cookie cutter set as it is so much easier and  a lot quicker. However, if you just want to make a few then there are loads of good templates you can download from the internet.

After getting their fix of sugar from eating more candy than they stuck onto the houses the children moved on to make their own Winter Wonderland. This is a great activity for all ages. Each child got to choose what they wanted to put into their Wonderland and then went about assembling it. This is a fun activity for all ages and produces great results.

The for the last activity before dinner the children got to make their own gingerbread men necklaces. Both the boys and girls enjoy this activity and again it is suitable for a wide range of ages.

Lastly, party food! The food was kept festive and light. The cranberry meatballs and pasty stars were a nice play on the traditional sausage rolls. There was also a splash of cranberry added to the turkey and cheese roll ups. Home made cheese and olive pizza (not pictured) was also on offer for those not keen on festive fare. For desert the spiced cookies were a big hit along with the adorable pumpkin spice cake.

{PARTY TIME} Circus Party

We love a good circus party! This party was for a long standing client who always has great parties. She likes for the guests to be able to move around and engage in the activities they enjoy and stop for a bite to eat when they feel like it. This creates a very relaxed atmosphere where everyone moves around and enjoys the festive offerings.

A circus themed party is perfect when you have siblings of different ages or genders celebrating together like we did here. The colour scheme was a slight variation on the traditional red, white and blue used for circus parties, we stuck with the red and white but switch the blue to black along with a splash of bright colours just to mix things up a bit. The marquee lights were perfect for this set up! It gave the party a slight retro feel.

A cake table always adds a sense of occasion to an event but this one also added a sense of fun. The children got to chose their own cake and went with this delightful clown.

Our different food stations worked perfectly for this party. The guests moved around the different activities and then went and got food when they were hungry. It's a good way to manage things when you have a lot of guests rather than trying to feed everyone all at once.

There were lots of great activities on offer including face painting, art station, paper craft, caricaturist, pony rides, soft play and of course fun and games because it isn't a party without games!

And last but not least was our popular photo booth. Our new set up provides lots of entertainment as well as great photos for the guests. Children of all ages can navigate it and have loads of fun adding filters to their photos before printing them to take home.

We are so excited to have one of our favourite photographers back in town to provide us will beautifully photos. Check her our here - www.applesnapsdoha.com

{PARTY TIME} Tropical Party!

We loved working on this party. Such a fun theme! This tropical party was for the delightful Fatima who had lots of her own ideas that she wanted to be incorporated into the party. She asked for a contemporary take on the luau theme.

The colour scheme worked so well against the natural colours of the leaves, rattan and the wood look canopy and photo booth back drop.

Our new low to the ground table setting with cushions was perfect for this theme. It allowed for a relaxed, beach like atmosphere and was perfect for the guest to lounge around at before and after their meal.

Like all our set ups the popcorn and candy floss station was tied into the theme. Everyone enjoyed snacking on them between activities.

The activities included our popular fun & games session and the guests also got to decorate their own cupcakes and cookies. And our new photo booth was a total hit! As there were lots of older guests they got the hang of the touch screen quickly and loved playing around with it adding filters to their pictures and printing them off. This wooden look backdrop was perfect for the pictures, it gave them a real rustic beach feel.

We love a stylish Halloween party here at CF. Sometimes it is fun to go for the traditional Halloween set up and other times its nice to do something totally different. For this BOO party we went for something different using a colour combo of purely black, white and purple. We used a few different shades of purple to give a little more depth.

As polka dots are not at all in the Halloween tradition they added a bit of fun to the look and a feeling of spontaneity. It is always nice to be surprised by the set up of a traditional theme.

We were so excited to launch our new photo booth at this party. We have maintained our stylish set up that can be customized to any party but added in a fun DIY photo booth. And of course we can customized the boarders on the photos. Our attendance manages everything to ensure great photos every time!

Even though we love a nicely styled party what really makes a party are the activities. We had the traditional popcorn and candy floss for the guest to help themselves to while they moved around the different activities. There was face painting, our popular paint a truck and bouncy castles along with games and a magic show. And like all good parties this one ended with a pinata! The details of how activities are presented make such a difference and tie everything together nicely.

{Bridal Shower} Henna Party

We really enjoyed working on this henna party. For those of you who follow us from abroad and don't know what a henna party is it is a bit like a hen's night. A few nights before the wedding the bride and her close girlfriends and female family members will gather together to get their henna done for the wedding.

It was great to work with the trendy colour pallet of orange and pink. We used henna designs in orange on the pink background and vice versa. For the floral arrangements we went entirely with roses in different shades of pink and orange. We tried not to make the arrangements too formal to keep things a little playful in line with the colour scheme.

The sequined orange table runners added a bit sparkle to the set up offset the flowers perfectly. The lovely middle eastern style table lanterns in pink and orange fitted perfectly with the henna theme.

{Party Time} Fiesta

If you have been following us for a while now you will know we love a good fiesta! This one was a more contemporary take on the theme. We went for bright bold colors and lots of cactus! We have developed a bit of am obsession with cactus (some of you may have already noticed that!).

The birthday boy wanted a churro cake. A plain cake that tastes a bit like the Mexican donuts and is coated in cinnamon and sugar. It worked really well with our custom cake toppers. The children who liked more traditional cake got to have cupcakes.

We used our low to the ground set up with floor cushions. It is a fun set up for both little kids and older ones. It also works well in small spaces.

We used cactus in every way possible. We made them to look like pinatas, we had photograph cut out of them, cactus cupcakes that were hard to distingue form the real thing, we had blow up ones, wooden ones and we had the real thing! The cactus cupcakes (on the cake stand above and below right between two real ones) were made by the talented Sylvie from Sisslos Cakes and were fabulous. You can find her on https://www.facebook.com/Sisslos/?fref=ts or on Instagram as sissloscakes.

The food was easy! We served Nacho's along with some Mexican rice and corn. There was also a selection of empanadas which are always a big hit.

Our custom cut out signage worked perfectly for this theme and we used it for everything form the invite to the nachos banner and thank you tags. The children got to take home a packet of hot tamales (spicy cinnamon sweets) and a mini cactus from the table set up.

{Party Time} Shopkins

Here are some fun photos of a Shopkins party we did recently for the madly obsessed Brooke's 6th Birthday. We went for hot pink and white so we could give her a good old girlie bash while also mixing in the Shopkins. Kookie Cookie is her favorite so we made sure she featured!

Along with face painting the guests also enjoyed our fun and games activity and a custom made Kookie Cookie pinata. The perfect amount of fun to fill in a party.

The food was kept simple. On arrival the kids were treated to candy floss and then for lunch they had hotdogs and fries along with an ice cream sundae station. We are always encouraging parents to serve children a meal at parties as it usually works out to be the most economical option and with the least amount of waste. The little details like the sauce pots (bottom left corner in the above picture) add to the festivity of the event.

{Bridal Shower} 1950's inspired Bridal Shower

We get to work with some super fab clients! This bridal shower was inspired by the brides love of 1950s glamour. We loved the sophisticated monochrome palate that was used and the touches of hollywood. We were also lucky enough to get to work in a totally empty white room which enhanced the glamour and sophistication of the event.

We used some silhouette images of some of the top hollywood starlets of the 1950s along with pictures of them and quotes from them tied to the end of the balloons to add a bit of hollywood glamour to the shower. It was a lovely, subtle way to incorporate them without letting them overtake the whole theme.

Little details like the bride to be sign on her chair and custom banners allowed us to emphasis the bride in an understated way.  The mirrored table runner reflected light beautifully added a bit more glamour!

{Baby Love} Blooming Marvelous Baby Shower

Unlike lots of other party blogs almost all the parties you see on this blog are real parties we do for clients. This sometime means we don't have fabulous professional photos (although sometimes we are lucky enough to get them) and todays posts is one with DIY photographs.  We loved it so much we wanted to post a few pictures so please forgive the poor pictures.

This is a Blooming Marvelous baby shower we did for one of our favorite about to be Mums! The strong black and white stripes contrast with the bight colored flowers perfectly.

You may have already realised that we are in love with the trend of naked cakes. Naked cakes are pared-down creations that forgo fondant and too much buttercream to allow the texture of the cake to show through. This one was decorated with flowers to match the theme and one of our custom cake toppers. It is a really good option especially if you want to move away from the traditional vanilla or chocolate cake and go for something a bit different like carrot or lemon meringue.

We loved how the paper flowers turned out. We can't wait to do an all white version of this! Matching the fresh flowers with the paper flowers all worked perfectly. We always love fresh flowers and are very keen on the new trend of casual looking flower arrangements for events. It worked perfectly here. The black and white background added an touch of sophistication and allowed the colour in the flowers to pop

{Corporate Event} Bright Beginnings Nursery Open Day

Lately we have been asked to do more and more corporate work. We have done a few product launches and in-store events which make a fun change for us. Todays blog is to showcase an open day we helped out with earlier in the year for a lovely bright and airy new nursery in Muaither, Doha called Bright Beginnings. The open day was based on a hot air balloon theme which is also incorporated in their logo.

Events like this can be tricky as you are focussed on engaging two groups of people who want totally different things! The children want to have fun and be engaged in activities and the parents need to be able to gather information and have uninterrupted time talking to administrators and teachers.  This event managed to keep everyone happy!

We provided a few activities for children and of course the nursery had great activities of their own on offer. There were quiet areas for the parents to attend a presentation and snack on goodies while being able to ask questions and getting all the information they needed.

It is important with events like this that there is a strong brand identity and that the event is fun and interactive for participants so they go away with a good feeling about the brand and the organization. We can customize anything! We provided these very cute customized crayons (bottom left in the above picture) for the children to take home with them which will keep the event in there minds well after it was over. And lovely customized candles individually packaged for the parents (below in the yellow boxes).

If you are looking for something a bit different for your next product launch, open day or corporate event be sure to contact us, we can do everything from small intimate events though to large scale exhibitions and corporate extravaganzas.
